2 Carboys

2 Carboys

I bought the equipment kit from this site. Thanks! Great stuff. Now the wine kit i'm using states that I should have in primary for 6 days, did that, then a secondary for another 6 days, almost through that.

Then it states I should rack into another clean fermentor.

What's the deal with this? What am I supposed to do?

Go back to the plastic bucket?

Go to plastic bucket, clean out sediments from carboy and then rack from bucket to carboy again?

Buy another carboy?

Please help!

Check out my wine pages. It has a section on what to do after the fermentation starts...

You want to rack your wine about every 2 months after the secondary until it is clear and not hazy.

If you find that you like making wine you will want more carboys anyway so buying another carboy now will be okay.

After this racking, the wine should sit for a few weeks to clear so it should be in glass rather than plastic.

Yep, you will want extra carboys but they aren't neccessary. Do like you suggested, rack to the bucket, clean the carboy and rack it back. Kind of a pain in the arse but it works until you get another Carboy.
