Variable Volume Tank Problem

Postby timn » Sun Sep 24, 2006 11:18 am

I just purchased a Variable Volume Tank to use for primary, secondary fermentation and long term storage. only to find out that after filling with wine and sealing that the tank is not air tight. Air is leaking thru between the air bladder and the lid where the bladder seams together.
Has anyone else had this problem or is it a defective bladder?

I didn't know those were meant to be used for secondary. I really don't know much about these but since it is variable, it makes sense that it should be for secondary to reduce the headspace.

Sorry for the stream of consciouness and no answer but I wanted to bump it up and hope that someone else sees it because I am interested in the answer. Wine is so different then beer on fermentation that it might not be that big of deal.

I would say it is defective and I would call who you got it from and ask them what to do.

Im not sure what PSI you are suppose to pump it up to maybe you dont have it inflated enough.

The lid may also be warped thus not allowing the tube to do its job correctly.
