SF Bay Area grape exchanges

Postby doug_the_brewer » Wed Aug 20, 2008 1:34 am

As we're approaching grape harvest I was wondering if anyone has any favorite web sites/exchanges/whatnot for acquiring small lots (100-200lb)? Other than moregrapes.com and the napa vallley grape exchange, does anybody have any inside tips for acquiring grapes in the SFBA?

Hello Doug,

I recently discovered a source for Pinot Noir grape from the Santa Lucia mountian region. We just purchase 500lbs from this source and we are looking to establish a long term contract with him to purchase his entire production which is 2 tons. Of course the grapes are gone for this years harvest, but we will hopefully have his entire production next year. Keep me in mind if you need grapes for next year. As for other sources, try craigslist, winerysite.com or the wine business web site. There are still grapes out there.

Good Luck,
Steve
