Concords and Red Flames

Post by Ramrod » Sat Mar 26, 2005 4:51 pm

Last year my concords and red flames went nuts. I make jelly with the concords and eat the flames. Used 100 lbs of concords, my brother took 100lbs and I gave 100lbs to an elementary school teacher to make jelly and only used half the grapes. The flames likewise, I can eat only so many.

What can I make with them?

Thanks in advance

I hope you're still around to read this. I don't know anything about flame grapes. Don't know that much about wine either. Why not try making some wine out of the flames? Or Jelly? At the very least you can make grape juice and drink it. Got any neighbors? Give some away to them.
Maybe there's someone nearby who would want them for wine/juice/jelly.

I have had some nice wines made out of concord grapes.

I should be so lucky; I have young scuppernong vines that are producing their best crop yet. However, the mallard ducks from our pond - yes ducks - are eating as many as they can reach right off the vine. Between the ducks and deer, I figure I will get about a hand-ful for myself.

I'm expecting to next see the ducks with their head stuck in my primary drinking my merlot that is fermenting. I hate drunk mallards.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
