First time mead

I've been brewing beer for 10 years now and decided to try making some mead. I'm going to do a one gallon recipe to try it out, and looking for any tips that may not be in the plethora of articles out there. The batch I'm making has 3lb honey and sweet orange peel and cinnamon. My plan is primary ferment for a few weeks (maybe up to 4 depending on how the yeasties work), rack to secondary and keep it there for 2 months before I even think of bottling. Making it still and shooting for about 15% abv. Advice?

Been a few years since I made any mead. I got most of my advice from the Gotmead.com forum. Good info there.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Yeah, I've checked that out too. Some interesting recipes there too if I find I like this and have the patience.
