I'm new here and general new with all the brewing stuff. Can someone tell me what basic equipment is needed to be able brewing?

do your self a favor and buy this book or check your local library for How to Brew by John Palmer

I agree with Drew, that book is a great place to start.
Our hosts here also have some great starter kits to get you going.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
