Anybody want to buy WLP050, Tennessee Whiskey Yeast?

Postby Mwilson » Thu Mar 10, 2011 3:27 pm

I'm looking to get a vial of this yeast, and have started working with some folks down in San Diego to get enough peeps together to have Home Brew Mart http://homebrewmart.com/ order a minimum 40 vial lot from White Labs. Need more interest though, so I thought I'd ask here. Please let HBM or myself know if you want some! I'm sure if we can get them to order it, they'll ship it no matter where you are.

Here are the particulars on this yeast:

WLP050 Tennessee Whiskey Yeast
Suitable for American-style whiskey and bourbon. This yeast is famous for creating rich, smooth flavors. Clean and dry fermenting yeast. Will tolerate high alcohol concentrations (15%), and ester production is low.

This yeast can be used for those "big beers", and I plan to use it in a yeast blend myself, as soon as I can get it.

I've been in touch with HBM and we can order less than 40 vials. I have rough commitments for approx 10 at this time, if we can hit 20 then we should ask them to make the order for us. If you are interested please email me:

Please put Tenn Yeast at the title so I'll catch it and let me know how many vials you want. I think the price is roughly $8/vial, I haven't been told it's more expensive.

Cheers!

Why not just reculture it from the slurry on the bottom of a bottle of Jack Daniels? :?

The WLP050, Tennessee Whiskey Yeast, should be in at Home Brew Mart in San Diego tomorrow at the earliest. There were some ordering glitches, but those have been worked out. Don't wanna see this stuff go to waste, so remember, they also do mail order! :D
