28th Annual Southern California Homebrew Championship

Postby lovepea » Mon Aug 17, 2015 12:12 pm

Inland Empire Brewers would like to announce that this year's annual homebrew competition will be held on October 24th, 2015, in Redlands, CA. This is a BJCP/AHA certified event and is open to all categories of beer, cider or mead. We will be using the 2015 BJCP Categories for judging this year.

We will be accepting entries until October 11th either by drop off to various locations in Southern California or by shipment.

Registration and payment can be completed online this year, or with paper entries if you prefer.

For more information or to register, please visit our site here.

We can always use more volunteers to judge or steward, so please feel free to join us! There will be food provided and a gift for helping out.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me here or email at competition@inlandempirebrewers.com

Cheers!

Can't wait either! I think I'm sending in 6 and another cider. Unfortunately my mead won't be ready in time.

:( I didn't place with any of my beers this year. But congratulations to those that did and to the IEB for another great competition!

Congrats! I sent in 5 beers. Just waiting for the score sheets to see what went wrong.

This is the first year I have entered this competition.

I probably sent in a half-dozn beers, and I had two beers place third in their categories (Berliner Weisse and Porter). Oh well... maybe next year.

I had 4 in the comp this year and didn't place. 3 of my beers were judged by at least one BJCP and I got great feedback and scored in the high 20's to high 30's. My doppelbock was judged by 2 non-BJCP, and scored a 14. Some of the comments were, "too malty" and "needs more hops." This is the same beer that has won 2 first place and 1 second place in the last few months. Sigh...
Bottled: Nothing
Keg #1: Dark Chocolate Stout
Keg #2: Bourbon Barrel Stout
Keg #3: Nothing
Keg #4: Nothing
Fermenting: Pale Ale
Next On Deck: India Pale Ale
Brewed in 2017: 50 gallons

Add that to the listing of reasons I don't bother to enter competitions.
