Milk stout recipe

Postby jeeper » Thu Mar 27, 2014 3:56 pm

Anyone have a great Milk stout recipe ? I have a WL London yeast cake I want to pitch on Sunday.
I've brewed plenty of stouts in the past, but usually go for more dry stouts

It's pretty easy. Choose your favorite dry stout recipe, but add 3/4 to 1 lb lactose per 5 gallons. That's it.

I agree. I use 1 lb for a 5 gallon batch and use Black Patent for the roasty coffee flavor. Gives it a sweetened espresso taste.

Add some cacao nibs in secondary and make a milk chocolate stout. Try to serve that one to friends that don't know beer and they'll ask if there's really chocolate milk in with the beer. :D

I did that with my chocolate vanilla imperial porter... Everyone was drinking it thinking 'wow this is so sweet and smooth', meanwhile not thinking about the fact their getting hammered!
