Postby Danny1788 » Sat Mar 09, 2013 9:48 pm

So I have question about weed beer? Who has made it? When do I put it in second or first.

Never made it, but if you want active indredients in the beer it will need to go in the boil.

It's a waste....smoke a joint and drink a beer.

I'd say more distant than direct.

Denny my nw brew brother! I've learned so much from you.

I've never grown hops but have some coming. I've never grown pot either though it paid for my Harley. That's all I will say on that.

I know you can graft pot and hops. I know pot and hops produce antibacterial alpha acids, and both are botanical cousins along with blackberry believe it or not. What makes it hard to believe is the perennial vine hop vs annual pot.

By the way, I've read that rogue dead guy uses dennys favorite. True?

Nope, it uses Pacman like most of their beers.

Seems like a major waste, but if you must, maybe try while lautering. Another idea, would be to maybe save the stems or leaves, and use them as if you would add oak chips while fermenting.
On tap: Columbus Bomb IPA

home brew?

Postby BrewBum » Sun Mar 10, 2013 8:08 pm

I had a black IPA with toasted hemp seeds. I smelled the toasted hemp seeds and they smelled nutty and the beer tasted that way too. Hard to say thought because it was a black IPA and could have been malt related.

Yeah, I've had beers with toasted seeds, too. Intersting flavor, no psychoactive component at all, which is what people are usually after. I was recenty given some beer that had a heavy dose of hash added to the boil. No different than the beer would be plain.
