Who's is your favorite steakhouse?

Postby Gucci Pilot » Tue Apr 19, 2005 6:25 pm

I have been to a couple of Morton's on the West coast and I'm going to the one in Philly for my anniversary next week. It got me thinking, who's got the best steaks, ambiance, etc?

I have also been to Chops in Atlanta many moons ago. The steaks and atmosphere where great. Unfortunately, getting sick from eating way undercooked meat was not so great. (hey, the lighting was reeaaally low, gimme a break).

My favorite is actually a local joint called Whiskey River. As far as chains go, I guess I could say Ruths Chris.

Appleton Wisconsin,
"The Prime Quarter"
The steaks are only as good as the cook (YOU).

They bring you the cut you ordered and you cook it yourself over a huge grill whilst they bring you beverages, when your steak is done, a plate with Baked potato and greens appears;)
I used to get stuck in Appleton once a month or more (for a weekend) and outta all the other steak houses I have been to in 16+ yrs of trucking, 48 states, this is the best.

My ratings are based on having fun as well as a great meal!
Cheers...John

No place has better steaks than in Texas. If you're ever in Austin there's a place called Jeffrey's that has the best steaks I've ever had. It's expensive but well worth it. I live in Florida now and every steak I've eaten here doesn't even come close. It's absolutely fantastic.

I've always loved that concept. It seems so social and fun. Wish we had more of them. Cheers...

A local joint called "Blackie's House of Beef". 32 oz. Porterhouse steaks that melt in your mouth. Good local craft beer too.

When I lived in NJ 20 years ago it was O'Connors in Watchung/Warren area. All the beef was raised there. The beef melted like butter in your mouth.
In MI, I like Ruth Chris'. Those steaks are awesome.

There is a steakhouse outside of St Louis, in Illinois that's awesome. It's in a real house converted into a resturant. I don't know the name of the place, but I love to go there whenever I fly through the base nearby. The steaks have a nice charcoal crust on the outside and was really tender inside......uhhhh, mmmmm!

Best steak, hands down is the Oasis in Belgrade, MT. The guy also owns a ranch and hand picks the meat for his restaurant. Plus, they refused to serve Ted and Hanoi Jane, my kind of guy.

When I moved to WA, the quality of meat took a nosedive. You just cannot buy good meat here.

The best in WA or OR that I have had was El Gaucho.

Fogo De Chao in Chicago its a Brizilian restraunt. as long as you have your card flipped to green they keep bringing by these 13 diffrent kinds of meat and slice them on to your plate. It Rocks. It cost's $45 for all you can eat but its top notch stuff.

Yeah, but this is the best in Chicago. Go there and you will see. They cook all these meats on a skewer that looks like rotating swords in front of a wood fire. Then, Ahh just go there.
