Updated posting guidelines

If you want to talk about something not related to one of the topics above, then you post it here. Still, no selling stuff, no political rants, no arguing about all the stupid stuff in the world. This is an auto-pruned forum, so topics that are not posted to frequently will automatically drop off.

Updated posting guidelines

Post by gfoster » Tue Dec 18, 2007 12:03 pm

I think it's time for a reminder of the B3 forum posting guidelines. Please don't try to lawyer these and bend the rules, try to understand the spirit behind them and try to adhere to that spirit, ok?

B3 hosts this forum. We're volunteers and get nothing for our service here. That means no bashing the host and no bashing the moderators. If you have issues with either, bring them up politely in the support thread and have an adult conversation about it. Better yet, if you have a problem with B3 CALL them. They have always bent over backwards for most everyone I know when things are brought to their attention.

NO politics. What's political and what's just random discussion? You should know when you post it. Here's a hint... global warming, Iraq, the idiocy of Republicans or Democrats, etc are all political. It doesn't belong here.

No religious attacks. 'Nuff said. If you want to post something with a mild religious bent, think seriously about it first. If it's proselytzing (that means preaching, basically) at someone else, don't do it. If it's bashing someone else's religion, beliefs, unbeliefs, or whatever don't do it. If it's a normal conversation along the lines of "Got to go to church today before I brew..." or something, that's fine but if it's "Boy those Catholics sure are stupid" be prepared for moderation.

NO racism. That means against ANYONE. No bashing on people just because they are different... period.

NO attacking other posters. Good natured ribbing is fine. Piling on when someone's a good sport is fine. Being sarcastic, hateful or rude is not. If you are posting something that said face-to-face would probably result in you picking a few teeth out of your beer you need to not be posting it here.

WATCH your language. This is supposed to be a family-friendly place. While some language is ok, try and keep it to something that you wouldn't be embarrassed to say in front of your family.

NO browser hijacks. They aren't funny. Really.

Don't post disgusting crap, non-worksafe pictures, etc. That also means no soft-porn avatars. Use good taste. If you'd be embarrassed for your daughter or wife to see it, your boss to walk by and see it up on your screen at work or if it'd get you a nice call from HR it doesn't belong here.

When in doubt, the mods will try to err on the side of caution. We do NOT like to moderate threads, edit posts, lock or remove threads.

We want this forum to stay a good source and place for homebrewing knowledge first and foremost. Yes, we're all also friends and we have an off-topic section for conversations and joshing around. That will always be here, but let's remember to keep things civil. Treat each other with respect.

Personally, I think this is pretty succinct:

Seriously, those are the rules and have been since this forum was created almost 4 years ago. If you want to discuss politics, religion, etc., go to Fark, your party's website, or Google some forums. It doesn't belong here. If that's a problem, click the "X" in the upper right hand corner of your screen.
