BeerGun hose clamp?

Postby BeerBeard » Sat Jan 31, 2015 7:56 am

Hi all,

Recently got a BeerGun+ the accessory kit, and I think I've figured out where all the thingies go and whatnot.

My only question was about the hose clamp that's provided with the accessory kit? In the pdf it says that it can be 'easily tightened with wire cutters.' What does that mean? I've used other hose clamps before that you can tighten/loosen with a flathead screwdriver, and those things are straight forward. How would I loosen the (what I think are called) 'ear clamps' that are provided with the kit though? Can I use pliers at least to tighten it?

Sorry, not an engineer, the concept is just foreign to me.

Thanks!

If it is an oetiker clamp, then you would normally use a set of jaw pincers like shown in the link below:
http://www.jmesales.com/product/oetiker-standard-jaw-pincers,12350,7997.htm?gclid=Cj0KEQiAl7KmBRDW6s-Xi_uT9OgBEiQAZdbbSf9Bd601ezB3FcQP4TOELcYIc3X8W65MDPKBNr1RU9YaAi9r8P8HAQ

If you don't have those, then if you have some wire cutters see link:
http://www.amazon.com/C2G-Cables-38001-Cutter-InchesRed/dp/B0009FUXWG/ref=lp_553186_1_12?s=power-hand-tools&ie=UTF8&qid=1422732704&sr=1-12

Then you can use those instead. Just be sure to squeeze both sides ( e.g. first squeeze the right side, then from left)

Basically, you use the tool below the "ear or tab" to squeeze the circle and allow it to clamp the hose.

Here is a video that shows how to work a double "ear or tab" clamp, same idea for single ear clamps.
