Went to my favorite sushi bar and tried a new beer to me, Asahi Black, fantastic ! Really fell in love with this beer, very easy to drink, so much flavor, just a dam great beer. It really reminds me of Guinness Draught, but better. The Asahi Black is considered a Dunkel. Why a Dunkel when it has three different roasted malts, I was guessing it was a Porter while drinking it.

"COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle & can: Pasteurised.
Ingredients: Dark roasted malt; hops; rice; maize; Asahi’s pure cultured yeast.
Japan’s favourite dark beer. Brewed in Osaka, Asahi Black is made from three different roasted malts. This gives it a rich, nutty flavour and makes it incredibly smooth-drinking. Unlike other, more bitter dark beers and stouts, it’s brewed in a process called bottom fermentation, which gives it a subtle, sweet edge and smooth 5% abv."

Interesting. I've never seen this one before. I'll have to look for it.

Asahi is made by Molson Brewing Co in Canada...

I did not catch that, but that's like Guinness, which is made in Canada for the US market.

To answer my own question: "The Asahi Black is considered a Dunkel. Why a Dunkel" because Asahi uses lager yeast, Dunkel's are lagers, Guinness is ale.

I drank a lot of Asahi when I was stationed in Japan (a really long time ago), if only they had this beer then I might have gotten a taste for beer with actual flavor way sooner.

I think I haven't tried the black one. I remember what I drank was the "super dry". I think it's in a silver can
