Bigfoot 2001 from the cellar, it's been kept in a light free environment
for the last 6 years, the bottle was quite dusty, suspect that says more
for how I keep my brewery than the age, but none the less. I choose to
use my Delirium Tremens glass for the evaluation. It pours cleanly
while I needed to save some in the bottle to avoid the dark sediment.
Very lightly carbonated, dark tawny in color. Aroma is quite fruity,
reminds me of plums and raisins, followed by a nice malty backdrop, the
hops have faded a bit over the years. Some sherry like notes as to be
expected. Could sit around all night and just enjoy the wonderfully
complex aroma. Flavor still very strong and enjoyable, the hops taste
fresh and blend very nicely with the malt. Some warming but it doesn't
detract from the overall impression, the oxidation is present but not
over powering. Overall still a very enjoyable beer. I would rate it in
the very good category.

750 ml. green bottle. Corked & crowned.
Poured out a deep hazy chocolate/ cocoa brown, with a thin light brown head. Aromas are mostly of musty barns, horse blanket, and some sour malts. Flavors are mostly of Brettanomyces at this point, sour, tart, and astringent. Puckering even. Not too much left in the way of spices, honey, or pepper. Slight peppery bite to it as it?s swallowed. Alcohol is well hidden, tastes more like a 5% ABV sour red Belgian than a 10% dark ale. Finishes sour, tart, and vinegary.
