Rouge Voodoo-Doughnut, chocolate-PB-banana

Pours black, very good tan creamy head. When the cap came off I got a whiff of banana. The aroma in glass is great, smells like a glazed doughnut, I pick up on the chocolate, slightly ripe banana, not the peanut butter. The flavor does not match my fondness with the aroma. Flavor is just so so, I expected some lingering sweetness, it hits dry and ends dry, with a middle of the tongue tingling (astringency?). Not a great beer, just a average beer that needs some tweaking.

BEER, a mixture of malted grains, water, hops and yeast, that is transformed through the course of fermentation that transcends the simplicity of those basic ingredients, fundamentally into the drink of life.

I’m a huge fan of Rogue but agree that these beers are not so great. They are a unique concept but they don’t really fit in well with Rogue’s line up. FYI- if you in Oregon I recommend going to both Rogue and Voodoo doughnuts.

Nice head, glass lacing, a sugary aroma of brown sugar. Flavor was complex, lots going on there, brown sugar, malty sweetness to note a couple. Very smooth, I would add dangerous too.????
