Sam Adams Triple Bock?

Postby tookalisten » Sat Apr 05, 2014 4:03 am

With my recent kitchen renovation - I found 3 bottles of the 1994 release tucked away in the back of a cabinet. I had completely forgotten that I had these. Did anyone ever drink one? Aside from the fact they have been in my cabinet at room temp since 1994, I put them in the fridge - was thinking about popping one open just to test it out.

Blue bottle with cork? I had a few back in the day, was not a fan...but that was much earlier in my beer odyssey. A sipper for sure.

I tasted one back in about year 2000. Loved it. You'll want to drink it warm at like 60-70 F, as it is more like a liquour than a beer. Tastes like malt and maple syrup. Very tasty. Probably not a lot of bitterness left after all these years. Go for it. Just... you might want to taste some cool, and also let some warm up to room temperature and see how the flavor develops as it warms. Enjoy.

That's the ones - blue bottle with a wrap, did not even realize they had a cork. I will give one a go and report back.

Thanks for the conformation Denny, I was remembering soy sauce...but was not sure after all these years. Did not want to post that originally but that is for sure what came to mind when I saw the question.

Well, all of you guys are off the marketing team! :D

I decided to sip a gin and tonic last night after working in the yard all day; so have not tried it yet. But will get to it soon and post up my soy sauce, maple syrup infused thoughts. And, I have 3 of them. Might even offer one up for karma and mail out to a lucky winner.

This is my recollection of it as well. Way over the top sweet. Try it on some ice cream.

Soy sauce is the right descriptor! Blech! If I'm going to drink something that strong I'll make it a whiskey.

When my Dad was diagnosed with Diabetes, the Dietitian told him he had to switch to unsweet tea; when he first tried it, he made a face and said anything that tasted that bad should have alcohol in it and have some kick.

I still have not opened one yet.

All the above said, I wish I had a bottle left around to surprise some people with. Good find!

Major - UPS tracking says you now have 2 bottles of "soy sauce" sitting at your front door. Enjoy! :D
I also slipped in a bomber of my BarleyWine to cleanse your palate.
