Marathon Brewing Weekend

Postby rplace on Sun Nov 01, 2009 7:50 pm

So got going about 6:30AM today and wrapped up a bit after 9PM. Add to that a good bit of time on Saturday and I managed to; Clean and sanatize 7 conry kegs, take a 2 hour round trip the LHBS, rack 12 gallons of wheat beer, clean/sanatize a sanke fermenter and a conical, brew 12 gallons bo pils and 12 gallons of foreign extra stout, clean two yeast flasks, clean about a billion buckets, take a trip to the beer store and organize all my grains. On the down side I did not get around to installing secondary regulators in my keg cooler.

It's fun to have a weekend all to yourself from time to time. I hope my wife comes home soon or my back is gonna be killing me.

So what is your biggest/longest endeavor?

That is a long session. The longest I've done is a double brew session of a Barley Wine and then a molassess/honey two-penny ale. Then I grilled up some steaks and kicked back - once everyone else returned to the house.

Brewing - I did 7 batches in a weekend, July 08, I think it was. I fell asleep outside around 1am woke up in a panic because I had wort boiling at the time and thought I was asleep a lot longer than I was.
On tap: Oaked Old Ale, Rootbeer, Accidental Amber, Kolsch with a K, Pure Kolsch,
N German Alt, DW, Peek A Boo Porter, Cool Hand's IPA

My longest brew day wasn't that long ago. Mid Sept. I brewed two 10 gallon batches. An APA and a Wheat. I over collected my wort runnings during sparge on the Wheat as I stopped paying attention to my sparge in favor of chatting it up with the neighbor  Of course this meant a longer boil session to try and bring the final volume down.

It was a long day to be sure, but well worth it as I ended up with 20 gallons of beer :D versus 10 from a typical brew day.
Wine is but
single broth.
Ale is meat,
drink and cloth.

I switch between the left and right from time to time so it feels like somebody else is doing it.

A little over three years ago I did a quintupple AG brew day. I was getting ready for my first son to be born and wanted to stock up since I figured I wouldn't be brewing for a while.

After my son was born I went to 10 gallon batches "to spend more time with the family"
