sake anyone?

Post by ol » Sun Nov 14, 2004 10:33 am

Anyone ever made a sake? I am looking for a "field-tested and appreciated" recipe and mainly WHERE to find the ingredients (malted rice)

Thanks!

Google has plenty of resources for making sake.

OL,

I was interested in making sake and did some research (haven't made anything yet).

There's a pretty interesting .pdf file from fred eckhardt that I found through google:

http://www.designerinlight.com/eckhardt-sake.pdf

It's hard to muddle through but provides a good background.

I've also subscribed to John Gauntner's Sake World email digest (his email is sakeguy@gol.com). This guy knows everything sake.

Seven Bridges has a sake kit that includes rice, koji and sake yeast. This might be a good beginning, I'm thinking about getting it for christmas.

If you do make some, I'd be interested in hearing how it turns out.

Ol...Zymurgy Vol 27 #5 Sept/Oct 2004 on p.38-41 has an article on Sake if that will help any. I found a few good site on it since this has been on the forums once before. I think back in May of this year but cant remember the exact month. But I had to format my computer and lost all my links to sake.

I hope this article helps ya in your quest.
