Nicaragua Tres Rios Flavor

Postby kaufeenow » Wed Jun 13, 2007 6:54 am

I am curious what other home roasters have experienced with this coffee. I have roasted it a couple times now and find it absolutely flavorless. After roasting and a resting period the coffee smells fantastic. But as soon as it's brewed it loses any of those aroma characteristics. Basically it starts tasting like Folgers. I've roasted it in a IRoast 2 at 450F 30 seconds past second crack.

What have you experienced with this coffee, what roast profile are you using?

Try it a little lighter. I don't know this particular coffee, but I generally roast most Central Americans just a few snaps into second crack.

Well, I don't really think I can go any lighter. The first roast was a good bit lighter, basically right at second crack. And basically no "oils" came out and the flavor was even less impressive. I suppose I'm going to try a full city + roast tonight and see what that does. I'll do that and report back.
