Green Coffee Yield?

Postby George » Sun Jan 28, 2007 9:56 pm

How much does a pound of green coffee weigh after it is roasted? I assume it looses weight, but how much? I'm trying to figure out the 'equivalent' price of green coffee compared to already-roasted.

TIA

Edit: I guess this should have been in 'Home Roasting' If a friendly Mod happens bye...
Be wary of strong drink. It can make you shoot at tax collectors -- and miss.

12 ounces sounds about right. I roast 4 ounce batches in an air popper and they lose about an ounce in the roasting, so I would guess you lose about 1/4 of the weight of green beans.
