Unscrupulous

Postby fossilsrocks » Thu Jan 15, 2009 6:22 am

I have only been unable to convert the work crowd to good coffee. The best that I can get them to consistently buy is Folgers 100% Colombian. It isn't terrible, but it is far from what I have at home. (The Homeroaster takes care of his friends. Thank you, Ed!!! :D ) Anyway, I'm almost always the first one in the office. I start up a full pot, but I *steal* the first cup as it comes out of the machine. By the time the rest of them get here the pot is finished brewing & nobody ever knows of my transgression. Getting that best & richest cup of coffee makes it almost bearable.... 8)

You should go fishing; it is good for the soul. Have you ever heard of a single Nazi who liked to fish? You can't trust people who don't fish. We need to teach our House & Senate members to fish. Those who don't want to should be used for bait.

It has been over 20 years since I was in a position where I did not control the coffee. Of course, working in a design office, coffee is a staple and Folgers would cause a constant migration to the coffee shop.

Yep I do that everytime I am the one who makes the pot of coffee. We have Royal Cup here, we used to get this Dakota Dark Roast that was pretty darn good for office coffee. But they cut that out since it costs more than the other coffee.

Unless there are doughnuts, and even then rarely, I simply won't drink the office coffee. On the rare occasion when I do I will pour out whatever pot is in there and make my own fresh pot and do as you described. I don't feel guilty.

I can remember the job that I wrote into the specifications that the project administrator's trailer was to be provided with 2 lbs of custom blended coffee a week. That was great. The local coffee roaster cupped up several blends, provided a Bunn coffee machine, 2 pots as well as a custom blend for me. And, I also got donuts on Weds. for site meetings.

They use the classic Folgers Dark Roast around here, even though the chick that buys the coffee is a self proclaimed Dark Roast hater, she keep buying it and no one wants it, i actually had to point out where it said Dark Roast and showed the level on the damn container. That being said, i didn't even bother trying to school them, i just laugh as i walk by with my french press and shake my head.

I do it but only when I am sure I will not get caught. We have a bunch of coffee snobs in my group and they get pissed when they catch somebody doing that. We grind the beans just before each pot is made so you have to work fast. People have a habit of coming into the kitchen about 3-5 minutes after they hear the grinder start up.

I bring 24oz of my coffee in a thermos, the rest can fend for themselves.
Tapped: Nothing, I'm cleaning the freezer.
Capped: I have some Mango Wit hidden somewhere.
Fermenting: Nothing 'till 2010?
