Lager Temperature Ranges

Postby Alarmguy » Sat Dec 05, 2015 12:31 pm

I have a Wyeast Budvar I was considering pitching. My room/garage is running 61deg F in the day and 54deg F at night. The range for the Budvar is 48 to 58deg F. Will the yeast work or should I get another like the American Lager that has a larger temperature range?

The temp ranges given for most yeast are very misleading. In general, you will be best served to ferment at of a bit below the low end given. In general, stay far away from the high end.
Life begins at 60....1.060, that is!
