Morebeer forum slowing down.

Postby maybock » Fri Feb 15, 2008 1:59 pm

Is anyone else having trouble with the Morebeer forum other than me? It's the only website/forum that I am involved in that is getting really, really slow, or laggy. I mean, at some times it will lock up and then completely blink off my screen and then come back on again, ready to cooperate. It's really wierd and annoying. Anyone having the same trouble???

No problems here. Sounds to me like your computer could use a good cleaning. Try this. It works great.

Fine here too. BB: I was expecting that to be a rickroll and was thoroughly disappointed.

I was seeing a slowdown, but I changed browsers from IE to FireFox and everything sped right back up. It might be a Micro$oft thing.

Mine must not be working right either. Hotrod's avatar's zipper keeps getting stuck. Darn! :)

Actually, I'm working fine and I'm on IE7.

It is painfully slow today. It timed out on me 3 times trying to load a page. I hope someone can reset it.

Someone reset the password server. Either that, or we had a DOS attack.

There isn't a separate "password server", it's all part of the same system. In addition, just because the board is slow *for you* doesn't mean it was DDOS'd. There's about a million other things that can cause that.

If you had to log back in, it's probably because your cookie expired. This happens whenever the server is rebooted, but it also happens because of other things (like a global expiry). If the board is on a shared host and some other process started eating up resources the admins might have had to reset it (an issue completely unrelated to the forum itself). We don't admin the server (yet) so there's no way of knowing if the server was rebooted or not and if it was, why.

In the meantime, try to avoid talking out of your hat.
