Question about Private Message

Postby kzimmer0817 » Thu Sep 15, 2011 6:17 am

I sent a PM to someone a few weeks ago regarding his recipe and have not received a reply. Of course, he might be busy, and it's been a good while since he's even posted to the forum.

When I look in the PM link on my User Control Panel, I see the message in my Outbox. My "Sent Messages" folder is empty. When I click on the message in the Outbox, it says that it was sent on xx/xx/xx date. I use Outlook Express for my general mail handling, and, in OE, the Outbox contains message that are waiting to be sent. Once they are sent, they appear in my "Sent Items" folder. Perhaps the folders for PMs in B3's site function differently.

I just sent a PM to another person; now I have 2 messages in my "Outbox", yet my "Sent Messages" folder is empty.

Is this normal?
Thanks,
Keith

I've never paid much attention to the folders but just looked at my own and my "outbox" is empty with all my messages in the "sent messages". I suspect your messages in your outbox have either not really been sent (saved drafts) or that they stay there until they've been opened.

Pete,

I just sent you a PM. It appeared in my Outbox. Lemme know if you don't get it.

Thanks,
Keith

If they are in the outbox folder, they have not been opened by the recipient.

Who did you send a message too? Maybe we can tell you if he posts here anymore.

You can also look up the user to see when the last time they've visited the site is.

The first message was sent to cooldaddybeck regarding his Pumpkin Stout recipe. Apparently, he's quite a prolific poster with >1000 postings. It appears that he last visited the forum in September 2010, so there's probably a good reason why he hasn't responded. I hope he's OK.

Pete and I just exchanged PMs as a test. He received my PM. It looks like the PMs remain in my Outbox until they are read; then they go into my Sent Messages folder.

Thanks,
Keith

Yeah, he used to live near me but he moved and when he did he stopped brewing. He will probably be back to brewing at some point.

If you have any questions regarding recipes even if it is someone elses just post in the proper forum and somebody might be able to help.
