Beers that use honey malt

Postby smid1584 » Sun Nov 12, 2017 2:14 am

Hey all,

I was going to do the B3 APA II with my own hops and I bought the wrong grain.

I have a milled combo of 1 # Crystal 40L and .5# of Honey malt. Today I bought another .5 # Honey malt by mistake. I meant to buy another half pound of 40L. Two questions:

1. How will a half pound less Crystal 40L affect the flavor profile?
2. Recipe suggestions that use a half pound of honey malt.

Thanks
Aaron

I think you will be fine to use the 1# combo of C40 and honey malt for a APA. In fact, I often use honey malt at 0.5lb and a little less Crystal for IPAs and APAs. As for future use of the extra 0.5# of honey malt, just toss it in on your next batch of IPA or APA.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
