BrewCalcs Updated

Postby MadHat on Tue Nov 03, 2009 10:46 pm

Dear Fellow Brewers -
My homebrewing calculations site http://www.brewcalcs.com has been updated with metric calculations.

Quickly calculate:
    * ABW/ABV /Attenuation / Calories
    * Refractometer Correction
    * Hydrometer Correction
    * Convert Brix / Specific Gravity
    * Mash Temperature Calculations / Water Needed
    * Yeast Starter Calculator
No BS! No ADs! Cheers! I am currently working on some recipe formulation software - coming soon... :mrgreen:

Hi All,
Thanks for taking a look!

BrewBum - what type of mobile phone are you using? Just curious.. BrewCalcs is developed in flash which, sadly, isn't supported by many mobile devices. I would love to port this to an iPhone app, which may be a possibility in the near future. The PSP version was really an experiment to see what was possible on that device.

Roc-Craven - I've been testing a desktop version of this application using Adobe AIR, a cross-platform installer that allows people to install desktop apps on PCs, Macs, and Linux/Unix. I'll will certainly post about it on this site once it's ready to go!

Based on some feedback I got yesterday, I already have some homework to do. I am going to add a cookie that 'remembers' your previous entries and settings. This will allow you to quickly return to the site and remember what you did on your last brew.

Thanks for posting your questions and comments!

Windows Mobile device.

HTC Ozone to be exact.

I can access the site, it just doesn't seem to work very well if at all. It is very slow and clunky and takes forever to input numbers if I even can. I am trying to goof around with it right now and every time I try to type in numbers or delete your inputs it closes the program. I can run the calculations with your preset numbers but not my own.

Oh well, this is exactly what non iphone users need, just a simple calculator. I currently use the http://www.rackers.com calculator when on my phone but they don't have everything.

I know this is a bit cheeky, but would you consider releasing the sourcecode?
