Drunken Cherries

Grocery stores are full of nice cherries now so -
Quart jar, packed full of cherries, fill with vodka and a little home made amaretto
Plan to sit it back for a month or so.

Anyone tried anything similar?

Never tried this, but it sounds great! I just picked up 8# of Dark Tart Cherries from a local grower co-op for $1.99 per pound. Ate half and the other half are going into my currently fermenting Black Cherry Sour.

That black cherry sour sounds fantastic!
This is the first time I have mixed this concoction; so will report back how it turns out.

I bought some legal moonshine with cranberries in the Mason jar.

Both my current sours have been going for 18 months. I just added some lactose, DME and more WL Sour Mix bugs to get them a bit more acidic. I'll be adding the Tart Cherries to one of them in a week or so and hope to have it ready for New Years Eve.

I've made real maraschino cherries! With simple syrup, vanilla bean, and amaretto.
Absolutely delicious. You can never look a red dyed marischino cherry in the face again! Haha!

I tried the recipe with the Archie Rose gin. It tastes really awesome. My husband loves the taste of his favorite drink in the cherries.

So... good story on this.

Looks like I made this back in July. We have a little dorm fridge on our screened-in back porch that does not get used much. I placed this jar in it and had honestly forgotten about it. We had some friends over this eve and they brought some beer, I opened up the fridge to put it in and saw this jar of drunken cherries sitting there. Popped the top and took a swig. Well, it smells and tastes amazing! We passed it around and could not believe how well this turned out.

That's a nice surprise!
